Paramount has announced that Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Ethan Hunt for Mission Impossible IV. The deal came into place late in the afternoon, with Paramount CEO Brad Grey, Skydance Productions David Ellison, co-producer J.J. Abrams and Cruise all present at the signing.
Screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are attached to write the script from an original idea by Cruise and Abrams, who, together with Paramount Pictures, will now actively search for a director.
It's assumed that this will be the star's next project, with filming expected to begin by late summer for a Memorial Day 2011 release.
