'Brooklyn's Finest' Movie Review!

Damn, Fuqua is back!

This movie is about; Three New York police officers over one week. Eddie is a patrolman played by (Richard Gere) who only has 7 days left before he can retire. Eddie has seen it all, and he has become so disenchanted with life that he must find some reason each day not to blow his own brains out. Undercover cop Tango (Don Cheadle) has been on the streets too long, causing him to protect Caz (Wesley Snipes) the drug kingpin target he is out to catch. Sal (Ethan Hawke) is a narcotics cop who is under tremendous pressure to provide a new home for his pregnant wife and two children. This stress from home and the temptation of all that drug money at his job is causing him to jump back and forth from being a good cop to a bad cop. In the end, all three police officers eventually come together.

This is of course the big return of director Antonie Fuqua. Fuqua made one of my all time favorite films, Training Day. He matches the same level of impact he had with 'Training Day', with this new film 'Brooklyn's Finest'. I think the tittle is sarcastic because each of the characters is fucked up in they're own way. But this makes it even a stronger film.

Ethan Hawke is great in here. This is his second film by Fuqua. His role seems a little of mirror image of Denzel Washington in 'Training Day'. He's really done on his luck, hes got 2 kids plus 2 on the way. He really just wants to get a new house for his family. But he doesn't have the money. So because of that he does what ever he can to get the money.

Don Cheadle is an undercover cop. That's been undercover way to long. He gets an order to take down recently released kingpin Snipes. When he get the order he cant do it, for his on special reasons. I glad that Cheadle is a cop, because I wouldn't believe him as just a gangster, that part he didn't pull off for me.

Richard Gere plays a veteran cop, that's been on the force for twenty years. He's a week from retirement, that's a little cliche to me, but I can move on from it. As usual, (in Gere's films) he loves the hookers. He actual is a usual costumer for this one special hooker. He moves on from it and comes out stronger for it.

All three characters give great performances on there own level. To me Ethan Hawke gives the best to me. Even though I said he seemed stock earlier I think he comes out the best. Not to say the others weren't good. This movie has a bunch of twists and turns you may or may not see coming. Which makes the movie even more enjoyable.

Do to the rating. I give the movie a GO SEE IT!! For the reasons I left above. The movie has everything. If you liked 'Training Day' you will like 'Brooklyn's Finest' as well.
