Deadline is reporting that Mark Ruffalo is in late-stage negotiations to take on the role of Bruce Banner/The Hulk in Paramount Pictures' and Marvel Entertainment's The Avengers.
Just days ago it became clear that Edward Norton would not reprise his role as the mean greanie in Joss Whedon's big-budget all-star film, but as speculation over who would play Banner ran rampant, Ruffalo's name was the furthest from anyone's mind.
Ruffalo can be seen today in Focus Features' The Kids Are All Rightand if he does in fact land this coveted role that will likely be crucial toThe Avengers, will join Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth and others early next year when filming on the (hopefully) motion picture will begin.
