(Movie News!) Raimi to possibly direct 'The Shadow' next!?

"Sam Raimi, having his schedule recently  opened up due to the cancellation of Spider-Man 4, is apparently not wasting any time before jumping head first into his next project. While many speculated that this next directorial effort would be the adaptation of the World of Warcraft video games, the 50 year old filmmaker may be staying in more familiar territory with a reboot/remake/new film based on one of the progenitors of the modern superhero - The Shadow.

We already knew that he'd be producing the film, but now IESB reports that he may in fact be looking to direct the film, which is based at Sony, as well. Though this is still just a rumor, the report does comes with a little bonus. Writer Peter Georgiou has gotten to read through the current version of the script (penned by Siavash Farahani) and gives a spoiler-free but in-depth rundown of the proposed production's set pieces, tone and characters. Georgiou summarizes the script with these words:

“There is nudity and some brutal fight scenes. A man thrown into meat grinder and coming out as ground beef on the other side. Broken bones at every turn. Body parts strewn around a train station. Hookers servicing males.”

He also states that in it's current form, the film would definitely be given a hard-R rating (as if you couldn't tell from that quote!) To read the full synopsis, click here. No other details are available at this point, but we'll be following this story as more information comes in."
